Adelle Leonce, Nick Blood and Phoebe Ladenburg will star in Sting, a new play from Sophie Swithinbank that will be staged at The Young Vic this summer.
Directed by Nancy Medina, this funny and surreal new thriller explores power and control through a sharply contemporary lens.
At the centre of the story is Ash (Leonce), a young woman spiraling between late nights and a new job cataloguing historic cases of women accused of witchcraft. While her relationship with her boss Lily (Ladenberg) intensifies, and her boyfriend Dom (Blood) plays her knight in shining armour, unsettling questions emerge about who is in control, really.
The designer is Debbie Duru, with lighting designer Ryan Day, sound designer Nicola T Chang, movement director Rachael Nanyonjo, casting director Lisa Makin, intimacy director Yarit Dor, production dramatherapist Samantha Adams, voice coach Carol Fairlamb, costume supervisor Aimee Russam and Maddie Bevan, Jerwood assistant director Olivia Millar-Ross, Linbury design associate Yi Gao and Genesis design assistant Gisela Mulindwa.
Sting was developed with Lidless Theatre and is inspired by concepts from Waking the Witch, developed in 2022 with Swithinbank, Lisa Lapidge and Jess Tucker Boyd.
Sting plays the Young Vic’s Maria Studio from June 18 – July 18, 2026. Tickets here.
