Flush, a comedy drama set entirely within the confines of a London club bathroom, arrives at Arcola this May after playing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2025.

A comedy drama exploring sisterhood, fast friendships and unexpected bonds, Flush seeks to capture the fleeting connections of a night out to examine the reality of modern womanhood.

Over the course of a few hours, 16 different women pass through each other’s lives, including Billie, a young American woman navigating the immediate aftermath of an assault; an unravelling hen do; teenagers on their first night out; members of the queer and trans community; and women in their 30s quietly falling apart and rebuilding.

As the drinks flow and the conversations cover everything from sexting to Tiktok videos to patriarchy, the piece explores the tension between performative support, the pressures of keeping up appearances and how women can truly support each other in times of need.

Flush is written by April Hope Miller and directed by Merle Wheldon. Miller also stars as Phoebe/Lara/Liv, Ayesha Griffiths is Layla/Noe/Alex/Aisha, Jazz Jenkins is Billie, Miya Ocego plays Flo/Tanya/Jade and Joanna Strafford is Maya/Heather/El.

The creative team also includes sound designer Yanni Ng, lighting designer Jack Hathaway, composers Aaron Miller & Rob Wheatley and movement director Kate Crisp.

Flush plays Arcola Theatre from May 6 – June 6, 2026. Tickets here.
