Here’s Sharon Small, Tom Varey, Eva Morgan and Jad Sayegh on stage in The Glass Menagerie, now playing at The Yard Theatre until April 21.
It is evening. Tom Wingfield is smoking in the alley outside the apartment where he grew up. Through a window, he watches his mother and his sister.
Tonight is one of those nights you remember forever. Tonight, someone special is coming to dinner. Tonight, there will be a dance. Tonight, you might fall in love. Tonight, everything could change.
Written by Tennessee Williams, it is directed by The Yard’s founder and artistic director Jay Miller. Small (Nye) plays Amanda Wingfield, Varey (Hamnet) is Tom Wingfield, Morgan (The Gathering) is Laura Wingfield and Jad Sayegh (The Ocean and The Star) is Jim O’Connor.
This is Morgan and Sayegh’s professional stage debut. The production also marks the final show in The Yard’s current space before the building is demolished, with construction on a purpose-built new venue scheduled to open in 2026.
Miller leads a creative team that includes set designer Cécile Trémolières, costume designer Lambdog1066, composer and sound designer Josh Anio Grigg, movement director Sung Im Her, casting director Arthur Carrington, illusion designer Edward Hilsum and set and costume assistant Erin Guan.
