Skaters and dancers will descend on Sadler’s Wells East this April for Skatepark, Mette Ingvartsen’s blend of dance and wheels.
In the midst of its European tour, Ingvartsen held community skate workshops at the venue attended by members of the East London skateboarding scene. From these workshops, Ingvarsten handpicked seven young skateboarders between the ages of 10 and 24 to join the cast of Skatepark.
Danish choreographer and dancer Ingvartsen established her company in 2003 and her work has since been shown throughout Europe, as well as in the US, Canada, Australia and Asia. She has been artist-in-residence at Kaaitheater in Brussels, Volksbühne in Berlin, and holds a PhD in choreography from Stockholm University of the Arts / Lund University.
Skatepark first premiered in 2023, and will play at Sadler’s Wells East from Thursday, April 10 – Saturday, April 12.
