High stakes heist drama My Uncle is Not Pablo Escobar is returning to Brixton House for a run of performances this April.

A thriller blending an exposé of corporate complicity in the drugs trade with a feminist examination on British-Latinx identity, the story follows four British-Latinx women who uncover a money laundering scandal at a multinational bank – loosely inspired by the 2012 HSBC scandal. The show explores those that profiteer and those that pay for it, pointing to the wider corporate complicity in the drugs trade.

At a time of political instability between the Global North and Latin America, My Uncle is Not Pablo Escobar is an uplifting story of organised resistance, identity and belonging that subverts stereotypes and interrogates the invisibility of Latinx communities in the UK.

The cast features Yanexi Enriquez as Alejandra, Cecilia Alfonso-Eaton as Lucia and Nathaly Sabino as Honey. Casting of Catalina is to be announced.

Inspired by the high drama of telenovelas, it is written by Elizabeth Alvarado, Valentina Andrade, Tommy Ross-Williams and Lucy Wray, and co-created with Joana Nastari.

Nastari is the dramaturg, with Ross-Williams and Wray directing. Ross-Williams is the showrunner. The producer is Dais Hale, the associate producers is Sean Brooks and production manager is Daniel Bassett.

Choreography is by Myron Birch, lighting design by Roberto Esquenazi Alkabes, set & costume design by Tomás Palmer, originating sound design by Xavier Velastín, production manager is Daniel Basnett and video design & captions are by Rachel Sampley.

The show is produced by The Hale and returns to Brixton House after a previously sold out run and receiving a special award at the OFFIES 2024.

My Uncle is Not Pablo Escobar plays Brixton House from April 7 – May 3. Tickets here.
